Ich war immer der Meinung, das man das Steigen einem Pferd, mit dem auch andere umgehen und mit dem man arbeiten will, eher nicht beibringen sollte.
Soviel die Theorie- und was ist, wenn in der Praxis das Pferd andere Pläne hat?
Mein Plan war, Gladur beizubringen, wie man sich mehr setzt. Gladur hat das auch grundsätzlich verstanden und sich dann entschlossen, sein neues WIssen gleichmal für etwas mehr Dynamik im Spiel zu nutzen. Er steigt nun also. Er tut das sehr kontrolliert und nicht sehr hoch. Also habe ich beschlossen, aus dem Spiel-Element nun etwas Abrufbares zu machen, damit ich die Kontrolle darüber behalte.
Auf dem Bild unten, sieht man die erste, prompte Ausführung auf Kommando, die nicht mehr Teil eines Spiels ist. Es wird noch etwas dauern, bis das sicher sitzt, aber es ist schon genial, wie brav er bei dieser potentiell aggressiven Bewegung ist.
Außer dem Abrufbar machen soll er in Zukunft auch noch lernen, die Bewegung weniger vorwärts und mehr aufwärts auszuführen, so das dies wieder dem „Setzen“ zu Gute kommen wird.

Gladur is rearing. This is something that I didn’t plan. In fact I was always of the opinion, that is is no good idea to teach rearing to a horse that is handled by other people as well and is also in normal training.
But what do you do, if the horse has different plans?
What I was and am attempting is making the use of the rearend more and more part of every day moves. He is learning to take more weight to his hindend like this and learns gradually to bend his joints there while doing it.
During the process, Gladur noticed how much this faciliates some moves and he happily began to create greater dynamics while playing. One of his „new“ moves was a hinted at rear up, which soon grew bolder, as he grew confidence. Since he is always extremely careful and very controlled in the move, I have decided to let him, but to take control.
So now I am moving this from play element to something I can call for with a command. The image above shows the first time this worked. It will take a bit longer to really settle, but it is a nice start. He will learn to carry this out more in an upward motion than a forward one like he currently does, which will also improve his weight shifting.
But for now I am very fascinated how controlled and well tempered he executes such a potentially aggressive move.
