Proud like a God

Schau!

[…]Open your eyes, open your mind
Proud like a god, don’t pretend to be blind
Trapped in yourself, break out instead
Beat the machine that works in your head[…] (Guano Apes: Open your eyes)

Just now, the pony was moving with limited grace and motivation, rather earth bound as he moved around the arena. But then there is canter, canter becomes gallop and the switch in his head tilts. It is the wild, the untamed, the fast soul that races, races, races, that lives deep down inside of every horse.

First a few rounds which grew faster and the leaps grew longer and longer and then, maybe a little out of breath, afterall, there has been a break in training recently, but intoxicated by himself, he raises his tail and shows off.

Weightless, no more handicapped by any bit of his conformation, weightless with huge, effortless strides full of elegance, the body pushed forward and still carrying it, the neck curved up and up, the nostrils huge as jet air-intakes- and for a short moment he looks like a proud statue of old.

And he is not just showing off- he turns towards you- his eyes seek yours and he holds your gaze, while he shows you the best he has got and he is basking in the glory of the admiration that he can sense in you.

And the clever eyes laugh at you: Am I not beautiful? Am I not strong? Look!

We are Family *singt*

English Summary:
Sooo proud of the ponys this week! When we had a situation like Murphy and Gladur very obviously getting into a peaceful agreement after over a year of slow and careful getting used to eachother, we had all arguments we needed that a new group would work. And so we got the chance to put the four chronical coughing horses on one paddock together and to feed them haylage instead of dry hay.

Not only do the ponys repay us our bonus trust in their social abilities, they also start to get better/ stabilize on a very good level in their state of being affected by chronical cough for various reasons.

I am allowed to space out the time between inhalations further now and see what keeps him stable. My hopes are that the feed will make it possible to inhale less and less. But even if that won’t work out, it is sure such an improvement on last year already.
