    >Flowers! Serious Summer Warning!

    >So today we still have this wonderful warm weather and I woke up early enough for the market, so I set out to get summery plants for the balcony.
When I was done on the market, my bike looked like this:
    shopping flowers

All the plants and stuff I bought, making two tours:
all the plants I bought today

    The finished balcony, all clean:

Tagetes, why am I suddenly surrounded by so much orange?

One marguerite which did not fit into the middle flowerbox anymore:
    margarite

The Bornholm Marguerites, tricked into reopening their blossoms fully (they do that only in full sunlight):
    bornholm margariten

New hortensia, the other died by drying up from within- I suspect a damaged root.

This one will look like these, when flowering:

    To Mum:
My neighbour just got a third flowerbox out there! With more weird Geranien inside…
Her children really must hate me now…

  • balcony - sunflower

    >Project Sunflower pt. 1

    >Today I got me a „raise your own sunflower“ kit, because I thought this would be fun to try. (On the package they said it would always grow something from the sets. We’ll see about that, I thought the seed did not look so good…)
    But here we go!

    The package:
    Sunflower Project 1

    Sunflower Project 2

    What’s inside?
    Sunflower Project 3

You had to drill holes into the bucket (to let excess of water out)- what kind of a easy to use kiddie-set is that?! o.O
    Sunflower Project 4

    And everything set:
    Sunflower Project 5
I watered it and put it out onto the balcony. Now the waiting can begin.

  • balcony - flowers - plants

    >Flowers and no end, LOL!!

    >My parents had another flowerbox to spare and Dad brought it over when we set out for the home tool supplier. I ended up with a screen-version of a flydoor afterall, as the one I wanted was not available currently. And I will save some room with this version as it works like rollo that is pulled sideways. These are not so easy to install, so I will need Dad for this after all, but at least the thingy is here already.
But the flowerbox! Of course having it here on the kitchen window sill did not give me any peace, LOL!!
So I moved the hortensia to a new place (there is a bit more shelter against the weather):
    Blaue Hortensie

And since the empty box looked so empty and it was still not raining, I made a short excursion to Blume 2000 to see if I could find something nice. And so I did!
    Bornholm Mageriten

    Bornholm Mageriten
    Pocket sunshine, LOL!! Bornholm Margeriten.
If they grow too enthusiastically, I can set some into a big pot, too, but so far, they have enough room. And I have a mini garden now. ==^==^==

  • balcony - plants - spring - virtual pet

    >Springiness

    >See how the hortensia turns purple:

The Stoneheather is happy- there are new red leaves- so it is busily growing larger!
    New leaves

The little firtree is also verrrrry springy, as you can see here:
    sprouting like mad

The Pansies have all turned blue, but they have grown like mad, especially those on the little table…
    Pansies

    Pansies

And I got myself a little virtual pet which you can see on the sidebar of the blog, so it is invisible in a mailed version, I think…
So far, there is only the transportbox, I am very curious what will hatch from it… I called it „Snuffles“ because the box looked as if made for something canine, but it may as well be a Wer-something, LOL!! Am waiting curiously now.

  • balcony - flowers

    >Spring!

    >OMG, I can copy huge archives to the hdd, work on a photo, listen to music and have wmplayer make a library all at once while I am online and write here and I never notice a slowdown. O.O Awesome…

Um, but what I wanted was to show that I let spring come to my balcony, too!
    New plantses!
    A new hortensia:
    Hortensia

And pansies/violas (Stiefmütterchen)- I only wanted to fill one box, but they sold only big amounts of them, so I got to run for more soil and set up a second box, too, LOL!!!
I couldn’t resist when I saw them in my most favourite color-variation:
    Stiefmütterchen

    Stiefmütterchen

It rains with occasional hail even, which is why these flowers stand on the floor here.

  • balcony - computers - embarrassment - funny vids - grand prix - plants

    >Germany – Zero Points!

    >Aargh!! I just found out that the new song that they play up and down and which I myself had already voted as the „worst thing since Stefanie Heinzman sang the „The Unforgiven“ (Metallica) cover version“ is actually our Grand Prix d’Eurovision entry this year!
And this crap did they need a whole casting show for?! O.O Also, they also said the girl is „unconventional, an „actress“, spontaneous“ etc. … Seeing her music vid, *I* say I see neither.Let’s not mention that her English sounds…weird…in places. Sing, she can’t either- where her voice fails, she just does some kind of „one tone chant“- I didn’t see the shows, but if she wins- how bad was the rest? o.O

Good grief…we should have rather sent Guildo Horn again- like that, we would have scored for weirdness, at least.
    Teh German entry:
    YouTube video of „Satellite“

And now excuse me while I am embarrased in a corner again, LOL!!

Am feeling old- when you catalogue books and come across recent events- recent, like say, the last twenty years- and have to put them in the „History“ systematic while you think „Heck, I remember this, that can’t have taken place *that* long ago!“, this is weird…

I will get a new computer, whee! Am both curious and dreadful about Windows 7 on it…
And I loooove the „persona“ skins that you can put on Firefox 3.6. – they look mostly awesome! ===^==^=== Finally something to make the browser pretty.

In case you have not seen it yet and need a cheer up after the song above, watch this hilarious „Simon’s Cat“ episode:
    Snow Business

I want plants like this for my balcony, they are called „Duft Geranie“ and smell faintly of lemon to the human nose- and are apparently revolting for mosquitos and wasps! Great!! Must try to find some..
    „Duft Geranie“

    >I finally caught it!

    >..the bird that messes up my balcony, tells me off when I want to be outside, too, and always has the „last cheep“.
Here’s a shot through the window, when it felt safe, mwehehe…

Know that beak from somewhere? I bet that you have at least one such rowdy around your home, too…

  • balcony - cat - helena - pepper - plants - sunday morning - sunny days

    >The summer of the cat

    >…is sadly gone now. Not only have I returned my „holiday cat“ to her owner Eva, no the neighbours next door with „Pepper“ have moved out, so if you ask me, here’s definitely not enough „catishness“ around.
To change it at least a little, here are some piccies of Helena, which I took:
Am I going to climb that leg or not

    Pretending to be a plush-toy:

New purry-looking rose-mugs on kitchen windowsill:

Yesterday I did a fat balcony clean up, tearing out weeds and cleaning windows and balustrade, now it is presentable again, so I have a few piccies of that now, too.

Very clean gravel now- normally inhabited by weeds:
    very clean corner
(And thanks to the parents for the board to close the space under the spacer, so to speak.)

The Chrysantenums gave up, so I have already wintery plants:

Sunny autumn splendour on a sunday morning- is there a better place to read a magazine? (Ok, apart from a real garden, that is)

    >Summery post

    >The petunia has given her last and was dying (drying up from the core while the ends were still blooming) so I waited until the last flowery abundance were gone before I replaced it with those two purry chrysanthemums:
    chrysanthemums

A while ago, when hell and highwater came down, I took those piccies:
    big shower
(On my balcony, there where the overflow from the roof comes down- the water stands there centimeters deep, if that happens)

    rainbow
And the reward after thunders and rainings.

And here some piccies of my new deco in my „reading corner“:

  • balcony - holiday - pigeons must die - sunny days

    >Die Wood Pigeon, die!!

    >Arrrgh!! I always hated those wood pigeons because they so bloody loud and tend to sound their uninspired noises under the window of a room I try to sleep in, but today, they took this to a new stage of escalation. *snort*
I had done laundry of bedclothes, because it was warm and sunny and the clothes would be dry in no time like this, when dried outside.
So I sit there in my chair and see this bloody bird land on the roof. It turns around and I am like „No, you wouldn’t!!!“ and make a dive for the laundry rack – but too late, SPLOT! It landed a big hit on one pillow case.
I think in that moment I did a pretty good „Achmed“ impersonation, LOL!!!
I know that it is forbidden to hunt them, but maybe electrifying a rooftop is legal? (kidding *g*)

Apart from that, this is my nice and sunny place, photographed from the inside. When the sun shines, the lavender smells nicely of lavender -duh- and the little firtree smells a tiny bit like a wood on warm days.

    A place in the sun

  • babys breath - balcony - greenflies - marguerite - petunia

    >More "gardening"

    >After finding that my magueritas have greenflies, I had to move them both to one windowsill,so that they will not contaminate my other plants until the treatment works. (It has already begun to do so, I saw lots of „dried“ greenflies today when tending to the plants, mwehehe…)
The movement meant I gained some space for the others. I wanted to buy a big lavender today, but I was all over the marketplace and then all flowershops close by- no lavender. At the market was a smallish lavender in tree-form but it looked sick.
At one flowershop I found two nice handmade flowerpots that are frost resistant. One I wanted for my petunia, which hates hanging on the balcony railing and is only thriving since it stood on the ground. For the other, I found a cute little plant. It is called „Gipskraut“ or „Schleierkraut“ („Baby’s Breath“ (Gypsophila paniculata)).
I will keep everything so spacy and far away until I am rid of the little pests…

So now the „tree“-like plants share a window and the small blooming plants stand on the windowsill before my kitchen.

    Couldn’t resist this:

    marguerite in full bloom

Appologies for the slight striped and grained piccie above, but this was taken through the window *and* a flynet and for that it is very well, I think.
When I got outside to repeat the piccie without obstacles between me and the butterfly, it had already fluttered on.

  • balcony - plants

    >Plants

    >My Stone-Heather (PIERIS JAPONICA) is going to blossom! Woot! And the flower-shop lady said it would not survive the winter in a pot outside. Mwehe… am now tempted to show her the piccies.

And my little firtree has miniature fir cones, verry cute. Will try to get piccies of that, too.

  • balcony - cat - primroses - spring

    >Springify your life!

    >(Pardon the word-creation, LOL!!)

Today, I wandered over the local market for fun (and to get flowers for Mum) and was mightily inspired by all the colourful plants on display.
So, when I got home, I woke my balcony from its hibernation, so to speak, removing the greatest parts of protective wrappings from the plants as well as dead leaves and branches.
And then I filled the two baskets with primroses who colour my view outside now.

Like this it looks where they stand now:

All my rustling, moving, crawling, cutting was supervised by qualified personel, namely my neighbours cat, who very seriously watched me to make sure I did everything right:
