Das gibt bald neue Apfelblüten
Frühling auf dem Balkon
Lebt zum Glück doch noch, der Roseneibisch.
Und davon habe ich gerade zwei in den Pflanztrog gesetzt, die werden sich hoffentlich in der Mitte schön wohlfühlen und ordentlich blühen.
Und nun gehts erstmal wieder zum Ausruhen aufs Sofa. Blöde Erkältung…
Frühling auf dem Balkon
Der eine oder andere mag sie schon vermissen, meine obligatorischen Blumen-Posts. Sie sind auch zu Gunsten der Pferde etwas zurückgestellt gewesen, aber das heißt nicht, dass ich nicht ohne Blumen drinnen oder draußen leben könnte. *g*

Some people might have missed my flower-posts, because recently here was a lot of horsing around. So here, just for you, enjoy the outbreak of spring on my balcony and see my mixed flowerboxes and the beginnings of hydrangea flowerings.
More shall follow as the plants continue to develope and I work more on the balcony.
Malus halliana (Zierapfel)
Man soll sich ja immer eine neue Herausforderung suchen, aber hier bin ich mir recht sicher, dass es gutgehen kann. Ich habe nämlich noch immer den Bonsai-Traum nicht begraben und nach monatelanger Recherche nun beschlossen es mit einem kleinen Apfelbaum als Freiland-Bonsai zuversuchen. Apfel habe ich schon erfolgreich auf dem Balkon gehabt (den Säulenapfel, den meine Eltern jetzt haben) und der Apfelbaum ist winterhart, kann also ohne Probleme (mit etwas Schutz) draußen überwintert werden.
Also habe ich mich mal online umgesehen und dann diesen Malus halliana aufgetan, 31 Zentimeter groß und 8 Jahre alt. Ich hoffe, wir kommen gut miteinander aus.
Was ist grün und wird im Karton geliefert? Anscheinend nicht nur Orchideen *g*
Nach einer Woche auf dem Balkon:

Jetzt, nach zwei Wochen, stellt der Baum massiv auf Herbst um:
Dieses Jahr hat der Baum keine Äpfel, aber ich hoffe, das er nächstes Frühjahr blüht und vielleicht habe ich dann Glück. Und so könnte das dann aussehen:

Natürlich gibts auch einen Plan B- wenn das Bäumchen in Schwierigkeiten kommt, dann kann ich es immer noch aus der Schale in einen Topf umpflanzen und es wie eine große Pflanze behandeln.
English Summary:
Always up to new challenges, I have here now one that should work out. I still have not buried the dream of a bonsai, yet and so I researched the outdoor variations thoroughly online and decided to try it with a little apple tree. I have cultivated apple on the balcony before and it thrived (the one that lives with my parents, now) and apple means frost-safe, so it can stay outdoors with a little protection without problems.
And so I checked out the online offers and came up with this Malus halliana, 31 centimeters „tall“ and 8 years old. Here is hoping we’ll get along splendidly. Above you can see it after arrival, one week and now, two weeks, beginning to do a mini autumn. I have waited with showing the piccies out of worry it might act up right on the spot, LOL!
This year, it has no mini-apples, but I hope for blossoms next year and then maybe I am lucky.

And of course, there is a plan B- if the little tree gets in trouble afterall, I can still take it out of the bowl and set it into a deep pot and treat it like a big plant.

Abendhimmel und Blütenmeer
Heute war der Abendhimmel wirklich abgefahren- der Himmel war leuchtend Pink! Auf diesem Bild bekommt man eine Ahnung, aber es war noch intensiver:
Today the evening sky was really weird- it was glowing pink. The image gives a hint but nature was way more intense:
Und hier ein Blick auf die Fensterbank, wo die wie wild wachsenden Petunien nun mehr Platz an den Füßen haben. Die beiden gelben näher zur Tür hin sind neu.

Sonnenschirmwetter
Es ist soweit, mein Balkon hat jetzt all die Blumen, die er braucht und es ist Sonnenschirmwetter, hurra!
Ich konnte mein Windrad reparieren! 🙂 Und die rechte Pflanzschale kam dann heute noch dazu:
In der letzten Woche war es mir ja schon wieder zu warm mit den schwülen 29C, die wir hatten, aber heute, mit leichtem Wind und Sonne bei höchstens 24C fühlt es sich an wie am Meer, perfekt.
Auch wenn es da wo es windstill war, ziemlich warm war… Und dann zur Mittagszeit, da muss man einfach pennen…

It is parasol-weather, hooray!
After the much too warm first days of last week, today, everything is just perfect. It is not warmer than 24C, there is a light wind- so it totally feels as if being by the sea, wonderful.
So today was a perfect day to let out the parasol again. Also I have not all the summery plants that this balcony needs, so now I am all set. *g*
You can see the gorgeous bowl of plants that I got today as last addendum to the balcony plantses.
Some thought it still a bit hot today (ok, granted, it was midday, too, so they had all the right being sleepy, LOL!!), though

Noch mehr Blüten
Hat keine Blüten, aber dafür ist die Fensterbank nun voll mit Südfenster-tauglichen Pflanzen (die Strahlenaralie ist im Schlafzimmer und treibt seit sie dort ist wieder aus!)
Dann habe ich heute Balkonblumen gekauft und eingepflanzt- und wehe da geht nun ein Vogel dran! *g*
Auf der Fensterbank die überlebenden Stiefmütterchen, Husarenknöpfchen und die Grasnelke:

Bei Obi muss man in der Pflanzenabteilung gemeinerweise immer an diesem Blütenmeer vorbei- die Orchideen:

Duck vs Me 1:1
Eine Ente plante, in meinem Balkonkasten zu brüten. Gesehen habe ich sie nicht, aber wohl ihre Erdarbeiten:
Und gestern hat sie mir sogar einen Ostergruß dagelassen:
Enten sind süß, aber nicht im fünften Stock, und so machte ich mich daran, es ihr ungemütlich zu machen, stopfte alle freien Erdflächen voll und opferte nochmehr Hornveilchen, um Platz einzunehmen:
Am späten Abend kam noch eine Bastelei dazu:
Natürlich hat das die Ente nicht wirklich abgehalten- weil in der Erde Stöckchen steckten, hat sie dafür auf den Hornveilchen herumgetrampelt, während sie ihr Nest suchte. Die Flatterseile scheinen sie nicht sehr beeindruckt zu haben.
Aber gemütlich fand sie es wohl nicht, denn meine Nachbarin hat beobachtet, wie die Ente nach einer Weile anscheinend unzufrieden abzog- und zu den Nachbarn auf der anderen Seite flog- die haben auch Lebensbäume im Kasten. *g* Ich bin gespannt.
Ich habe mittlerweile aufgerüstet und meinen Blumen „eingetütet“. DAS sollte sie nun wirklich abhalten.

Duck-Wars! LOL!!
A duck planned to nest on my balcony and upturned my flowerbox repeatedly. And then yesterday, it even left me an egg. That is a clear statement. Ducks are cute, but not on a balcony on fifth floor. So I made the attempted nesting place *very* uncomfortable by cramming it with flowerpots and spiking the soil with sticks. I also added a late-night decoration made of yarn and alufoil.
Today, the sacrificed horned violets were trampled, so the duck did indeed squeeze in there despite all the rigged up stuff- but my neighbour watched it and said the duck looked confused and uncomfortable and soon left- to fly over to my other neighbour on the other side. They have mini-trees in their box too, LOL!! We’ll see what happens there…
I did not rely on chance, though, got myself a birdnet and rigged up my plants. Now it is your move, duck!
(There is a chance that the plants that I could rescue will recover like this, too.)

Ooh ja! Ich hab diese Woche noch ziemlich viel auf die Beine gestellt.
Zwei Heizungen gestrichen:
Mit Hilfe meines Dremels die Halterungen für das Plissee in einen gebrauchsfähigen Zustand gebracht – nun klappts, hurra!

I am sooo good! (LOL!)
I got a lot done in this last week of my holiday! I painted two heaters, dremeled the keepers of the Plissee into submisson, so that they now work on my window, too – yay! And got my balcony into autumn mood. I hope this Chrysanthemum will survive longer than they usually do with me. ^==^;;;
Bluuuuumen!
Heute gab es auch annehmbare Farben an Blumen auf dem Markt, wo ich die beiden roten Ampelpflanzen (dunkelrot und hellrot) gefunden habe. Und die bunte Ampel konnte ich dann bei Blume 2000 nicht stehen lassen, die macht gute Laune und passt prima in die Mitte.

Der Apfelbaum hat nun einen großen Topf bekommen- sein alter Topf war komplett durchwurzelt, er ist also prima angewachsen.
Hortensie und Steinheide gedeien prächtig:

Und dann gabs heute eine Premiere, die ersten drei Orchideen und der Ficus sind nach draußen umgezogen. Ich überlege, auch die Brassias rauszustellen, aber die sind ja noch unter „Quarantäne“ und müssen deshalb noch etwas warten.
Draußen sind nun der Topf mit den Dendro Nobiles, die Epicattleya Black Comet und die Oncidopsis Nelly Isler. Die beiden letzteren scheinen es noch feuchter als in meiner Küche zu mögen- es bot sich also ein Regentag an um sie rauszustellen. *g* Jetzt haben sie 100% Luftfeuchtigkeit bei 16C, mal sehen, wie sie das finden.

Time for a lengthy outdoor-flower post!
On the market I finally found plants in colours that did not hurt my eye and I got a darkred and a medium red one. At Blume 2000 I could not get past the colourful mix of the third pot- it really makes me happy to look at them. And those striped yellow plants make me think of icecream! *giggles*
As you can see, it rains, so they soon got rescued under the roof, siiiigh…
There’s even more going on outdoors, though. The appletree got a pot of proper size now- the old pot was full of roots, so it has nicely outgrown that one.
Hydrangea and Stone Heather continue to thrive, both seem happy with the current weather, surprisingly. The Armeria knows no bad weather, only malnourishment- if you make sure it has „food“ then it will be a-bloom most thoroughly.
And the novelty- for the first time, three of the orchids and my little tree moved outdoors! I am considering to get the Brassias out, too, but they need to finish „quarantine“-time first so they can not infect the others with something I overlooked.
So now living outdoors are the Dendro Nobilies, the Epicattleya Black Comet und the Oncidopsis Nelly Isler- the latter seemed more and more displeased with my kitchen, as it got warmer (and thusly less humid) in there. So now they can try out how they like it outdoors at 100% humidity (today, LOL!!) and 16C – that should be more to their liking.

Apfelblüte
Die Balkon-Saison fängt an
Hier sieht man meine neueste Errungenschaft- eine Kombilösung, die zum Einen meinen Balkon aufgerämuter macht, weil die ganze Töpfe nicht lose herumfliegen und zum anderen als Sommerfrische für einige meiner Orchideen dienen wird. Ich habe extra gesucht, bis ich ein mobiles Gewächshaus mit halbtransparenter Plane gefunden habe, denn die volle Sonne würden die Orchis nicht aushalten.
Eigentlich hätte es noch eine Etage mehr, aber die habe ich weggelassen, da ich sie vermutlich nicht brauche und auch dem Wind keine so große Angriffsfläche bieten wollte.
Jetzt muß ich nur noch eine Fliegengitter-Tür dafür basteln, damit die Klappe auch aufbleiben kann.

English Summary:
Here you see my newest balcony piece- a mobile greenhouse! It serves as a combination for de-messing my balcony, because all those potting stuffs can stand in it, too and its other purpose is to serve some of orchids as an outdoor SPA during summer. I have been looking carefully for a house that had such a semi-opaque cover, because a clear cover would have let in too much sunshine to the plants. Theoretically, the house is one storey higher, but I wanted it smaller, because I do not need the increased space and like this, it will be less of a target for the wind. Now all that is left to do is creating a flynet-„door“ for it.
And additionally the current state of my hydrangea as well as apple-blossoms in progress.
Tomorrow is market-day, then I will go and look for further outdoor plants.

Eine Frage der Perspektive
Uuaahh, es regnet Riesenspinnen?! o.O
Neee…weder riesig noch fällt sie vom Himmel. Eine junge Kreuzspinne hat ein ziemlich großes Netz an meiner Hortensie befestigt.
Und wenn man genau hinguckt, hat das Netz hinter ihr eine Laufmasche! *g*
Und überhaupt ist das ziemlich schlampig gesponnen- nicht das ich das besser könnte, aber die perfekte Symmetrie die man Spinnennetzen immer zuschreibt hat dieses nicht. Spinnen sind eben auch nur Menschen. *g* Ziemlich ironisch, allerdings, ich kann ja selber auch keine geraden Linien handarbeiten – natürlich kriege ich dann auch die passende Spinne.

Uuaahh, it’s raining giant spiders?! o.O
Nope, a young European garden spider (called „Kreuzspinne“ in German for its more or less obvious „cross“ pattern on the back) has attached quite the net to my hydrangea. If you look closely, you can see a webbing flaw right behind her. And where is that often called upon perfect symmetry of the spiderweb? Not here, definitely… Spiders are only human, too, it seems. And very fitting in an ironic sort of way- I can’t manage a straight line sewing or knitting either, so it is most consequent that I get a spider that is bad at weaving, too. LOL!!
